Can I use Belt Audio to record audio on my iPhone?Updated a year ago
Belt Audio is not designed to record audio. It can pass a mono microphone signal back to the phone if your 3.5mm Aux device supports voice back, but it cannot make a stereo recording. Mono recordings are possible but will be low-quality compared to a more specialized hi-fi recording interface. Whether you can make a mono recording or not will also depend on your audio device.
For example, you will not be able to record audio from another phone (because phones have a headset audio jack with one pin for the microphone, which interferes with the iPhone recording function when using the Lightning to Aux cable). Making a recording from a standard Aux output may work, but in mono and at low quality. If you record from an Aux output, make sure the signal is turned down low enough to avoid distortion.
Note that not every App supports recording via the cable (e.g. “Voice Memo” does, but “GarageBand” does not).
