How do I improve my PR/01’s Bluetooth range?Updated a year ago

Bluetooth range depends on a variety of factors:

  • The transmitter device (ie: phone, tablet, laptop) sending the audio
  • The installation space (room geometry, distance/shapes of walls, furniture, blank walls, or covered walls, etc.)
  • Device orientation (for example, audio might work well with your phone on the table at a considerable distance, but suddenly has a small break in audio when you pick it up, or cover it)
  • Type of audio (high-resolution, high-density audio may tend to break easier)
  • Interference from other RF (radio frequency) trasmitters, such as Wifi networks, mobile phone networks, etc.

We unfortunately cannot guarantee a minimum range for your device and installation, due to the high number of device and environmental variables outside of our control. Comparing to other Bluetooth devices is also difficult to compare, as encoding quality can vary across devices.

As a general guideline, if you encounter Bluetooth issues in an unobstructed distance of ~6.5 feet (2 meters) or less, there could be something wrong with either your device, or your PR/01. Please contact our Customer Service team with a video illustrating the issue, and your PR/01 serial number (found on the back of PR/01) for further support.

In most cases, unobstructed Bluetooth range is approximately 5 meters, or even up to 10 meters, but at larger distance, the device orientation and other factors become more important, and you are more likely to experience short blackouts in the signal.
