What is the wattage for USB-C Smart Hub's pass-through power?Updated a year ago
Pass-through power on USB-C Smart Hub is limited to 48W.
If your laptop requires more than 48W of power, we suggest plugging in the power cable directly into the laptop (in a 2nd USB-C port) instead of in USB-C Smart Hub for pass-through power. Please note, the maximum input wattage depends on your MacBook model, therefore, performance will change depending on the max input wattage for your MacBook.
A MacBook Air with USB-C (first introduced in 2019), for example, has a max wattage of 30W, so the 48W of pass-through power given by USB-C Smart Hub is more than enough. A power-hungry laptop such as MacBook Pro 16” (first introduced in 2019), for example, has a max wattage of 96W. This means the 48W of pass-through power from USB-C Smart Hub should be enough power to charge your MacBook Pro 16" overnight, or to minimize battery drain while in use.
